Whitfield, Hexham, Northumberland NE47 8HD

Visit Website

Situated in a beautiful and tranquil riverside location on the Whitfield Estate, the park is well kown for its beauty and wildlife.  The Estate is home to rare species such as the otter and black grouse, while the endangered red squirrels can be seen close to the park.  In the spring the whole valley plays host to many different species of wading birds, especially curlews, lapwings and oystercatchers who come to the area to nest and rear their young.

4 and 6 berth lodges are available for short breaks or weeks.

Only 10 minutes by car to Allendale, the park is in the middle of some of the best walking, riding and cycling country in Britain.  Close ot the National Trust's gorge walks at Allen Banks and 15 minutes to Hadrian's Wall.  There are plenty of golf courses within easy reach, and the highly rated courses at Matfen Hall and Slaley Hall are just half an hour away.  Fishing is available on the local fishing lake or on the River West Allen - brown trout all year with sea trout and salmon in the early autumn (the Estate owns several miles of riverbank).
